Ulli, SparkyVegas, Ilja and 11 others like this!

Version 15.8.1.6 adds a simple feature that makes a huge difference: press <F1>, or choose HELP > USER GUIDE, and a window pops up explaining what the active style or property does.

For some properties, like POSITION and ROTATION, this is not necessary, but for others this will prevent you from having to consult the online user guide. This makes it a huge time-saver!

Thank you all for your suggestions and requests!

Version 15.8.1.6 is now available from the download page:

I tried to translate this user guide.
The result was good.
I find this feature very useful for me in non-English speaking countries.

I have a question.
This user guide is standard STYLE and PROP only.
Are there any plans to add a description of the effect?

aki, a year ago

Thank you all!

To make the Italian translation:
-make a copy of BluffTitler\Media\Manual\Manual_English.txt
-rename it to Manual_Italiano.txt
-translate the lines starting with TEXT

This way it is automatically selected when you have selected Italiano.txt in the SETTINGS > OPTIONS... dialog. It works the same way with other languages.

Developing a system to translate the about 400 effects and all its props can be done, but first let's find out how this F1 dialog works out for the 600 styles and props.

Considering the amount of work to translate, I think it is more efficient to paste the explanation of the required effect into Google Translate with "Ctrl + C".
However, if the user guide is displayed in your native language, it may be easier to notice features you did not know.

Fantastic feature. Thank you.

I know a person who calmly translated the effects as well. But since the translation was not good I did not correct it, precisely because the effects are many and new ones continually come out. Could you implement a translate with google button that automatically sends the text to this service?

Franco Aversa, a year ago

@Michiel you did an amazing job,
now I have seen how the window works.
Great !!

Great feature Michiel. Thank you once again for your creative thinking to assist us all.

@Michiel
-make a copy of BluffTitler\Media\Manual\Manual_English.txt
-rename it to Manual_Chinese(Simplified).txt
-translate the lines starting with TEXT
The language I have chosen is Chinese(Simplified), and garbled characters appear in translation. How to solve this problem?

Thank you Michiel!

LostBoyz, a year ago

Shoji M, save the file as UTF-8 with BOM or UTF-16 LE.

Here's how you can do that in Notepad.

is it possible to translate also the first sentence that I have highlighted and the title?

Thanks

Franco Aversa, a year ago

Franco, search for these lines:

PROP Text position
TEXT The position of the text.\n\n[position]

\n means a new line
[position] means a macro defined at the top of the file, that you have already translated.

Merci Michel pour cette nouveauté.

Can that "property" item also be translated?

Franco Aversa, a year ago

GREAT job michiel!! thousand thanks.

vincent, a year ago

Franco, when you select the LOCALE tab in the <Ctrl><F1> dialog, you can see that Italiano is translated 99%. It's not 100% because the words PROPERTY, ONLINE USER GUIDE and a few others are missing.

We could create one big file that contains the GUI and the manual, but for now they are separate in the LOCALE and the MANUAL folders.

michiel, a year ago

@Michiel
ah perfect, so I have to translate it in the dictionary.
Thanks, I couldn't find it inside the file.
But do I have to search for the single word? I can't even find it there .....

Franco Aversa, a year ago

Franco, when you select the Italian translation in the SETTINGS > OPTIONS... dialog and then select the LOCALE tab in the <Ctrl><F1> dialog, the following errors are displayed:

ERROR: 2 lines missing in the list INTERFACE
ERROR: List not found HELPPANEL

When you open the file LOCALES/English.txt you can see that the INTERFACE list ends with the following 2 lines:
Style
Property

And the HELPPANEL looks like this:
HELPPANEL
Help
Online user guide

So adding those 5 lines will make the Italian translation 100%!

michiel, a year ago

ok, sorry, I just couldn't find it.
I added everything. It is now 100% translated.
Now I calmly translate the whole new panel as well.
Tell me if I'm wrong, the help window indicates the properties of the layer such as position-rotation etc.
Then it gives an indication on the tab and effect, center, wave.
Then on the alignment.
and finally on the solid properties, discs of light etc ...
Did I get it right?

Thank you so much

(I inserted the link of the Italian dictionary translated to 100% in the local file)
